Unpretty by TLC.....
My outsides look cool
My insides are blue
Everytime I think Im through
Its because of you
Ive tried different ways
But its all the same
At the end of the day
I have Myself to Blame
Im just trippin.
Never insecure until I met you
Now im in stupid
I used to be so cute to me
Just a little bit skinny
Why do I look to all these things
To keep you happy
Maybe get rid of you
And then Ill get back to me
As I reflect back on what Ive used an abused
And detect that I need some clues to get through
To those that accused me of never being true
Ill loose if I play into this game and never know the rules
So how do I bring out the me nobody sees
The forest for the trees, how bout the women behind the weave
The light from within this life is the only real remedy
Or find the reflection you see to be so damn unpretty
* I think this song fits Melindas situation in a lot of ways. In the first stanza of the song that I posted its talking about how hurt and sad she feels inside and its all IT's fault why she feels this way. As said in the lyrics, she has tried many ways to get through her problems but nothing has worked. "I have myself to blame" fits Melinda I feel, because if Melinda would speak up about it she wouldnt feel how she feels. In the second part I posted its talking about how she used to feel until she met him and Melinda used to have high self esteem until that night that happened to her. And if she can just get it off her chest she can become herself again as said in the song. "Maybe get rid of you, and ill get back to me." Furthermore, in the last part of the song I posted its talking about thaose who didnt see her as being true. I think this relates to Melinda because alot of Melindas ex-friends dont believe her when it comes to what happened the night of the party. "The forest bahind the trees" relates to her as well because the author symbolizes Melinda as a Tree for many reasons.
I like this sont it does relate alot to her life and her problem
ReplyDeleteI agree that this song is very fitting for Melinda's situation. I think that a huge deal of Melinda's problems is how she sees herself. I definitely think that Melinda sees herself as unpretty, and I think that it is really affecting the way Melinda is dealing with her situation.
