Second Marking Period - Question #4
Melinda demonstrates many of the symptoms of clinical depression. What behaviors does she manifest that would cause you concern if you were her friend? What would you do to help her?
I would be concerned if I saw how uninvolved Melinda is. She doesn't really seem to care about anything and I think that is concerning. People who are depressed tend to not care about their responsibilities and they have no desire to fix their problems like Melinda. To help Melinda I would probably involve her in things such as school sports teams, parties, or class whether she liked it or not. I think after a while she would start to feel better and begin to enjoy these things again.
Melinda is very quit and she likes hide. She doesnt like to be talked to. If i was her friend I would be most concerned if I seen her rists. I would try to get her to talk and tell me what was truely bothering her. If she wouldnt want to tell me I wouldnt stop trying. I would ask her every day. I would go to teachers, counselers because i know if my best friend was acting like Melinda i wouldnt sit by while she is in pain. And what if she did end up killing her self at the end of the book instead of resolving her problem, how do you think heather and melinda's parents would feel?
-.I think the way she never talks, always bitting her lips, and how shes always alone. I would try and see if there was anything I could do to help her and just try and commfort her...
Some symptoms that would cause concern to melinda would be shes always quite, not social, and never likes to TRy and associate with other poeple, not even parents or counsler. If she was my friend I would try and talk to her,try to get her to tell someone professional or maybe even tell her parents.
She always is alone and dont want nothing to do with people or school. she isnt a normal high school girl. I would tell her get over it and live life. and try to help her out with tough love
Behaviors About Melinda That Would Make Me Worry Is How She Is Always Quiet And She DOesnt Have Any Friends. She Walks Around Like She Doesnt Care ABout Life. And Honestly I COuldnt Really Do Anything To Help Her. If She Doesnt Want Help For Herself Than You Cant Do Anything About That. Like They Say, You Cant Help Someone That Doesnt Wnat To Be Helped.
the symptoms that w3ould concern me is that she keeps to herself, shes quiet, shes always angry...she is way too depressed for a teenager which is not normal...i would try and help her get some proessional help and stick by her and tell her that she should not care about what others think of her and try to live life to the fullest.
Melinda is always quiet and sad looking. she avoids a lot of things and she hides. If i seen this i would talk to her, be a friend and listen. i would do anything to help her out.
Melinda never talks or cares to be talked to. If somebody pushes her around, she literally bites her lip, and lets it go. What would bother me as a friend is the way she holds her emotions in. There's not much a friend can do to help, but let her know that you're there for her when she needs you, but she has to be the one. to be ready to talk...
If i were Melindas friend i would be concered with the way she behaves around others. When someone aporoches her and says something mean she bites her lip so much she makes her self bleed. I wouldnt like to see her walking around by her self period. people like her need attention and need to be heard. As her friend i would spend as much time as possible with her and i would also let her family know.
